Students enjoy half-term break

The first fortnight’s break of the school year in Turkey has begun.

Didim is estimated to have 10,323 students and 654 teachers. They joined 18 million students and 900,000 teachers across Turkey began the mid-winter break.

Didimspor FC reach new heights

A 2-0 victory at the weekend moved Didim into second place in League 8.

Didim continued their undefeated run with a home win over Erdekspor. This followed a 1-1 draw with Bozdogan last weekend on the resumption of the football season after a winter break.

Didim now sit second on 31 points behind Manisa who are on 34 points.

Didim’s next two games will see them play bottom of the table Yeni Canspor away on Sunday (Feb 1) and then a real top of the table clash with Manisa, also away, on Sunday February 8.

Monthly stats on driver’s fines

DRIVERS in Aydin Province were fined a total 2.7 million TL for a variety of traffic and vehicle-related offences in December.

A total of 57,378 vehicles were stopped and checked by police and the Gendarme, and owners of 11,711 vehicles were fined for flouting traffic laws and for driving unroadworthy vehicles.

Some 38 drivers were referred to court, 1,292 were barred from driving and 172 had their licences confiscated.

Nevertheless, there were 365 traffic accidents in December, 211 resulting in 328 injuries and four deaths.
