A NUMBER of slides at the Didim Aqua Park were destroyed in a fire today.

Firefighters raced to the scene of the park, which is not yet open, and brought the blaze under control within an hour.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated, but the damage at the park, which is Yalikoy Mah., on the edge of Didim, was graphically shown by local media.

Businessman Murat Kalayci who owns the water park, attended the scene of the devastation.

Firefighters were also helped with police and gendarmerie in trying to contain the blaze.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

The aqua park has proved a top attraction for many visitors, domestic and international, over the last decade or so.
