Irish tourist found dead with stab wound in Bodrum

An Irish tourist has been found dead with a single stab wound at his rented apartment in Bodrum.

John Edward Donnelly, 64, arrived in the district 20 days ago and rented an apartment in Neyzen Tevfik Caddesi. His body was found naked in the apartment with a stab wound in his back at 2pm today (June 3) after his neighbours saw a bloodied knife in front of the building and notified the police.

n_100082_1His body was sent to the forensic medicine institute in Muğla for an autopsy after examinations, which revealed that a struggle between the killer and the victim took place, the Hurriyet Daily News reports.

Video footage obtained from nearby security cameras showed two men leaving the building. The residents of the building told the police that they didn’t know who those people were.

The police were working to apprehend the suspects involved in the murder. An investigation is ongoing.
