Off to a flier
Posted on Monday, January 14 @ 10:50:24 CST by editor

A FLOATING `five-star’ hotel will be commanding the Aegean seas this year as part of a new boat service to the Greek islands from Altinkum sets sail.

The Flying Fish, owned by Hakan Çetinkaya and his British wife Laura Bower, will offer the first ever direct boat cruise service from the resort to Kos.

It will offer residents a quicker – and more localized - option than having to trek to Bodrum for a trip to the Greek islands. Instead of four hours each way, residents and tourists will face just two-and-a-half hours.

But passengers will also be in for an extra special treat as they will be able to relax, stretch out and enjoy the many comforts of the boat: a luxurious rosewood saloon with movies beamed out on flat screen television and complimentary hand-cooked meals catering to personal dietary needs.

The couple has also pledged to set up a “door-to-door service” eliminating the need to get up at 6am and travel by road to catch the ferry from Bodrum.

With two 240hp marine engines and an aluminium hull, The Flying Fish sits low in the water, which will reduce the rock and sway from the motion of the sea, allowing for a smooth cruise.

Speaking to Voices, Laura said: “Those thinking of a longer journey can take advantage of The Flying Fish’s upmarket facilities.

“We have private cabins including a master cabin with ensuite bathroom; 24 hour, 365 day hot water; satellite TV and DVD; first class dining and drinks service; complimentary fresh fruit; and the opportunity for a unique experience: moonlit kalamari fishing!”

In the summer, a trip on The Flying Fish will offer the opportunity to cruise the beautiful bays of the Aegean in the style of a bygone era with the luxury of modern amenities. Passengers will be able to laze the days away or go for a spin in the inflatable speedboat.

“We wanted to bring a taste of luxury to the people of Didim”, said Laura Çetinkaya. “The town is changing, and Didim visitors are looking for something new, beyond the limits of the busy summer months.

“Didim is becoming an all-seasons, luxury destination, and with The Flying Fish we hope to cater to that market.”

Details about the different tours available on The Flying Fish will soon be published on the company’s website at www.didimyachting.com.
