Update

THE construction of the 2 July Park, designated for Çamlık District, has begun.

After landscaping the park, a children’s playgrounds, quiet places and a sculpture will be added.

A sculpture has been prepared in the workshop of the Municipality of Didim, as well as the figures of the men and women returned to the haji on July 2, 1993, in commemoration of the Sivas Madimak Massacre.

The names of those who lost their lives will be written into the statue which also features Pirsultan Abdal.

The Sivas massacre refers to the events of July 2, 1993 at Otel Madımak (Madimak Hotel), which resulted in the killing of 35 people, mostly Alevi intellectuals, and two hotel employees.

The victims, who had gathered in the hotel for a cultural festival in Sivas, were killed when a mob set fire to the hotel where the Alevi group had assembled.
