A NEW bicycle path stretching some 12km will be laid by May 2020 in the resort, Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay has revealed.

The pledge came as part of a weekly meeting with reporters on various issues and activities arising in the town.

Mr  Atabay stated that more than 350 cyclists came to the district at the Bicycle Festival last week, adding: “Negotiations are underway.

“We will make 12 kilometers of cycling path covering Ege Avenue and Adnan Menderes Boulevard and will be connected to each other.

“The ministry also encourages this issue. We have the advantage because our city is flat. We will also discuss the European Union (EU) funds. We have taken steps on this issue and we will have cycling roads. ”

He said the council was also supporting the Olive Festival between October 11-13 October which will be held in the shadow of the Apollo Temple.

Work is beginning on the redesign of Kurtuluş Street in Didim. Mr Atabay said: “We will announce the 3D works related to this project with billboards.

“We want to do it elsewhere and make efforts to beautify our district one by one.”
