The Council of State has approved the annulment of an “EIA Not Required” decision given by the Aydın Governorship regarding the Feldspar “Crushing and Screening Plant Project” planned to be opened by Dinçler Mining Inc. in the Söke district.

The Council of State process recently concluded in the lawsuit filed against the proposed mine within the Yeşilköy and Karacahayit neighborhoods. It upheld the Administrative Court’s annulment after the defendant filed an appeal.

The company, which plans to produce 390,000 tons of feldspar per year and 1,300 tons per day through its “Crushing and Screening Plant” in a 63-acre area in the Gökbel area, has signaled it will increase capacity as it will extend its 10-year operating license to 30 years in the future.

Latmos Platform, Kuşadası Environment Platform, Ekodost, Ayçed, Akbük Nature Volunteers, Beşparmak Mountaineering and Nature Sports Club, Güzelçamlı Nature Hikers, Merdiven Social Initiative and Development Association, Old Çavdar Headman, Güzeltepe residents, Bağarcık residents, sensitive civil society organizations and citizens from Aydın, Kuşadası, Didim, Akbük, Söke, Bodrum and İzmir came together in solidarity for the protection of the region and showed that they did not leave each other alone.

Stating that the desired success has been achieved, Latmos Platform lawyer Mehmt Çilsal said in a statement: “The governor’s office’s appeal to the Council of State against this decision was concluded recently. The Council of State emphasized that the annulment decision made by the Aydın Administrative Court was lawful and rejected the appeal request.”

According to the project, which was granted a mining operation license valid from September 11, 2023, to September 11, 2033, by the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs, mining operations were planned on 13.37 hectares of the 25.2-hectare licensed area.

The mine was located 1 km from the Ömerler neighborhood and 300 m from the nearest residential area. The project area was designated as “pastureland” in the 1/100,000 scale environmental plan of the Aydın-Muğla-Denizli planning region.
