Didim is to host four events ranging from celebrating the Turkish Republic to a major music and arts festival over the next few weeks, with hundreds of visitors expected to flock into the region.
August 30: Victory Day Celebrations
The events kick off with the August 30 Victory Day celebrations. The anniversary of the victory under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will be celebrated with a rich programme.
First will be a Torchlight Procession, Citizens, walking under the shadow of Atatürk and the crescent and star flag, will spread the spirit of Victory Day throughout the entire district. The Torchlight Procession will take place at 8:30pm in front of the Municipality building.
This will be followed by celebrations at Cumhuriyet City Square. Hosted by Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay, this evening will feature Işın Karaca, a powerful voice in Turkish music. The free concert begins at 9:30pm.
August 31-Sept 1: Peace Festival
The Didyma Peace Festival will open its doors for the 31st time this year, bringing with it messages of friendship and peace across both sides of the Aegean. This year a comprehensive two-day event is planned with exhibitions, talks, theatrical performances, and folk dance shows, as well as a sailing race, a bicycle tour, and a traditional peace parade.
The festival begins with the “Yoran Village Photo Exhibition,” which will be held at Şapel & MÜBEV on Monday, August 31st, at 5pm.
At 7pm, events showcasing the meeting of cultures will take place in the Green Area of the Didim Amphitheater. The Samos Music Group, the Karlovasi Samos Ionikos Cultural Association Folk Dance team, and the Didim Municipality Folk Music Choir & Folk Dance Team will perform.
The day will conclude at 9pm with the Secret Garden Acoustic Concert at the Didim Amphitheatre. İlkay Akkaya, Eléonore Fourniau, Audrey Wozniak, and Doğu Ekin will perform.
On Tuesday September 1, events coinciding with World Peace Day will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at 1pm at Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi Memorial Park. At 2pm, a Sailing Race will begin in Altınkum as part of the Peace Cup, while a wreath-laying ceremony at sea and beach volleyball matches will be held.
At 3pm, a festival program and cocktail reception will be held at DİGEM. As part of this, the Didim Municipality Theatre Group will perform their play, “Toys in a Dream”. A discussion about Yoran, the Lost Village of Didim, will be held with the participation of Muharrem Çetinel and Sideris Papageorgiou.
A separate discussion titled “The Same Melody in Different Languages; Peace” will also take place, with Hatice Gençay, Mehmet Soysalan, Zeynep Altıok, and Merih Ak as speakers.
In the evening, the festivities will move outdoors. There will be a 6pm Bicycle Tour from the Temple of Apollo to Altınkum Medusa. At 7pm, a Traditional Peace Procession will begin from Altınkum Medusa to Aytepe.
At 8:30pm the Didyma Peace Award and Plaque Ceremony will take place at the Atatürk Culture and Life Area (Mavişehir). The festival will conclude here with a magnificent Candan Erçetin concert at 9pm.
Sept 3-6: Milyonfest is Back
Milyonfest Didim, which was held for the first time last year, is preparing to meet music lovers again in 2026. The festival, which will take place in Didim Tavşanburnu Nature Park and will feature a total of 48 artists performing on two separate stages.
In addition to concerts, the festival grounds will also host sports, entertainment, and cultural events. Thus, participants will have access to not only music but also a variety of activities throughout the day.
The festival program will include sporting events such as a Streetball Tournament, Milyonfest Run, CrossFit area, and Zumba Workshop. A Book Days event will also form the cultural and artistic part of the festival.
Ticket sales have begun, with advantageous ticket options with a “Buy One Get One Free” campaign. A combined ticket costs 1,000 TL, while the camping combined ticket, designed for those who want to camp during the festival, is priced at 1,250 TL. Tickets can be purchased through Milyon Bilet, Biletix, and Bubilet.
Sept 17-20: Motofest
Motorcycle and nature enthusiasts will converge on Tavşanburnu Nature Park from September 17-20 for Didim Motofest.
The event will include camping and nature activities, as well as prize-winning competitions, surprise gifts, DJ performances, animation shows, and concerts by the bands Necati and Saykolar and İkizler.
The events are being hosted by Didim Motorcycle Community Association (DİMOT). Delegations have invluced meetings with Aydın Governor Dr. Osman Varol and Didim District Police Chief Mustafa Hakan Şengül and District Traffic Control Bureau Chief Commissioner Ergün Saraç. Security measures to be taken during the festival, road safety, and collaborations that will contribute to traffic safety in Didim were discussed.
