Update

APPLICATIONS for new residence permits are now being accepted BUT Didim polis are apparently advising people to go to Aydin. Voices has learned.

When Voices queried this, an officer said there was no-one in the Didim Polis Foreigners’ department and were advising people to go Aydin’s Foreigners’ Department. Whether this is a short-term issue, we are awaiting further details. As this is fast moving, we will advise further on out Facebook page

Police advise that applications will be sent to Ankara and processed from there.

Application details:
Didim Polis said YES you do need health insurance for permanent residence, but Voices is holding off until an official government/FCO source confirms it (If you look at no 6 below, it doesn’t categorise who should get it. Another vagary that needs to be ironed out.)

FCAC
The information below was taken from the Kusadasi Foreign Citizen’s Advice Centre on Facebook on Friday afternoon.

Voices can’t independently verify the information, but will be checking it out. The information arrived as Voices was due to go to press.

The FCAC states:

“The Foreign Citizens Advice Centre has obtained a complete list of requirements needed for renewal and/or first application for any one of the 6 new kinds of new residence permits depending on which of the permits you require;

    • Short-term residence permit
    • Family residence permit
    • Residence permit for students
    • Long-term residence permit
    • Humanitarian residence permit
    • Residence permit issued to victims of human trafficking

We had the list professionally translated and it appears below. As no two people’s circumstances are the same, we advise that when making an application you go to the Foreigner’s department at the police station, beside the Mayor’s office, and explain your circumstances to them. They will then look down the list of requirements and circle which items they require from you.

Please keep in mind that they may circle all, some or none of the requirements listed, depending on how you present yourself to them. They will then open a file for you on the date of application, from then you have two weeks in which to submit all of your paperwork. If all paperwork is not received before this deadline they may close the file and you may have to apply again.

The Police station is processing applications for the moment until such time as the new Directorate General of Migration Management takes over permanent responsibility for all future applications. Once we are informed as to when they plan to open and where they will be located we will update this page further.
