DIDIM Mayor Deniz Atabay promises to get tough on illegal peddlars and traders on the beach front has begun.

Senior politicians and council officers were this week seen directing operations in removing mobile traders’ stalls.

It is being seen as the mayor’s iron grip to reclaim the beach front for the tourist and the public.

He said: “The municipality is doing its job. There are certain rules and these rules have to suit everyone.

“Our aim is to end the pollution on the beaches and the front, and this, the enforcement of illegal traders, is a start. We are taking the necessary legal steps to get these matters underway as the season begins.”
