It’s sin – if you don’t drop it in a bin

Update

DIDIM Council riled by social media pictures, including one on Didim Voices Facebook page, have issued warning to people that fail to drop their rubbish in the new bins provided.

Pictures have emerged of lazy residents throwing their refuse to the side, the front and the back of the newly installed bins – but not actually inside them.

The council has now issued warnings that if they identify those that are illegal dumping the rubbish then will face stiff fines.

There are 100 new bins that have been installed since the start of the year, some of the residents seem to have problems figuring how to open them up.

Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay said: “The bins were installed with new underground chambers for the rubbish to be dropped into – not to be left on the streets. This causes environmental pollution.

“We are trying in all our efforts to keep the town clean and those that want to randomly leave their rubbish on the streets, and are identified, will have a penalty or fine imposed on them.”
