Update

THE latest news from the Residence Permit front is that some permits for Didim foreign residents should be trickling into the town soon.

In an update from a Voice’s reader, who has SGK, rents and has had a police visit, they commented on the final stages of the application process.

The reader said: “We had a phone call to come to Didim Polis station. We went with passports and one more photo.

“We were given two forms which we took to the tax office, paid 167TL (80 dollars) for one year’s permit downstairs and then upstairs we paid 50TL each for the cards.

“We photocopied the receipts, took them to the Polis Station. They said our permit cards will be delivered by PTT cargo. Now we wait for the cards to arrive.”

Insurance details emerge

On facebook, this message has been posed giving details of permit-related health insurance.

Ankara Sigorta (a Turkish government owned insurance company ) has announced a new special health cover insurance for foreigners applying for their permits.

The policy is called “Saglik Dostu Sigorta”. It covers people up to the age of 70 and unlike SGK is for admission to private hospitals.

Premiums are as follows:

MALES.
Age: 60 = 1400tl p.a. 61&62 = 1650tl p.a. 63-70 = 2150tl p.a

FEMALES.
Age: 60 = 1700tl p.a. 61&62 = 2053tl p.a. 63-70 = 2646tl p.a.

However, it might be possible to negotiate a discount on the premiums.

Anyone under 60 who may like to have this cover needs to discuss further with their broker as premiums are dependent on age. Discuss with your broker on all the ins and outs of the insurance, such as premiums and pre-existing conditions.

And finally, Voices information on the permit application process next week.
