Didim to host international festival

A HOST of folk dance groups from a number of countries will be performing in Didim as part of a four-day festival.

The Didim Folk Dance Youth Sports Club Association (DAHOT) is organizing the event from July 24 to July 27.

Ilyas Aydur, the association’s president, said: “We have successfully represented our district both domestically and abroad. In many countries, Didim has a respected following and we are now returning that respect by hosting a festival.”

About 400 members of folk dance groups from Georgia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan and Serbia and Montenegro, as well as those from within Turkey, are set to demonstrate their dance techniques.

Ilyas added: “The main idea of the festival is to demonstrate international cooperation for the future and foster a greater network of folk dance-oriented contacts.

“We believe this festival will also contribute in the tourism sector and reflect the different mosacis of our cultures to outside world.”

The programme’s events will be broadcast live on www.egestarweb.tv

The festival is being supported or sponsored by the likes of Didim Municipality, Garden Of Sun Hotel, Club Medusa, D Marin Didim, Iqbal’s Restaurant, Life Folks Songs House, Didim Aqua Park, Doctor Clinic and Tarhan Club.

Thursday 24 July, 21.30: Cortege Tuntas Hotel to the Port of Altinkum

Friday 25 July, 21:30: D-Marin Amphitheatre

Saturday July 26, 21:30: Akbuk Ceremony Area

Sunday July 27, 21:30: Didim Town Square (GALA)
