Make a splash for Aegean swim

THE TURKISH and expat communities are being urged to get behind an annual charity swim aimed at raising thousands of Turkish Lira for the disabled community.

The Didim Help in Hands organization will be hosting its third annual swim from Marti Sitesi, off the Yesilkent Road, to Tuntas Hotel beach on Sunday September 7.

The organization is appealing for all good swimmers to join a team that will plunge into the Aegean for the swim which will also be closely followed by volunteer helpers to ensure no-one gets into difficulties.

The previous annual swims have helped raise money to buy electric wheelchairs for members of the disabled community of Didim and greatly increase their mobility.

The first swim in 2012 saw six big-hearted swimmers raise 3,650TL and is now becoming a permanent fixture, particularly for those supporting the Help-in-Hands group.

So if you are a good swimmer or know someone that is, then Help-in-Hands wants to hear from you.
