PLANNING for the future success of Orman Kamp, the 147-acre picnic site on the outskirts of Didim, is beginning to take shape.

The beautiful wooded picnic area was contracted to be run by Didim Council after it won a tender to manage the site at a cost of 378,000TL for the next five years in May.

The camp has already been utilized by the Camping and Caravan Federation of Turkey and the organization has plans to promote it in European sectors as well.

Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay said the groundwork in improving the site, such as cleaning and the laying of electrical lines into the site, were complete.

He said: “We have improved the landscaping and the lighting on the site so that future guests staying there will be able to use the amenities to their maximum. We also have plans to introduce wireless internet as well.”

He said the Caravan federation was looking into plans to host events there to promote Orman Kamp as a brand across Europe.

He added: “We hope Orman Kamp will become renowned throughout the international arena for camping facilities.”

There were issues of jelly fish off the coast of Orhan Kamp but that seems to have been alleviated, One happy camper said: “I have never seen the place looking so clean and we have been coming here for many years.”
