Didim held by Manisa

Didim have been held to their third successive 1-1 draw, this time against top of the table leaders Manisa.

Didim took an early lead in the home game on Sunday, but Manisa responded after the break with a 67th minute leveler.

It means Didim remain just outside the top three and six points behind new leaders Atillaspor. Their opening four games have consisted of three draws and one win.

This Sunday, Didim play Izaks Gaziemir away. KO: 3pm.

Aydin mayor laments ‘coastal build-up’

AYDIN Province mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu has cited concerns about the rapid building on the Aegean coasts, particularly around Akbuk and Didim.

She said the rapid construction had added to a rise in issues affecting the local infrastructure such as water, sewer, roads, landscaping and parking problems.

As part of that, the mayor noted that a sewer project for Akbuk would soon get underway.

Çerçioğlu called for the need to protect pristine coves around the Aegean region and for districts to become more sensitive to environmental issues.

Illegal immigrants seized in Didim

NEARLY 200 immigrants, mostly from Syria, were detained in Didim, Bodrum and Izmir last week.

The immigrants were arrested as part of a number of operations launched by the Turkish Coast Guard as they tried the immigrants tried to flee to Greece.

Folk group goes on tour

Didim Folk Dance Society (DAHOT) have recently returned from a successful performance in Macedonia.

The 38-strong group attended the 35th International Pirinç Festival, which also drew in teams from eight other countries.
