DIDIM Marina may well be the point of departure and arrival for the planned ferry between Didim and the Greek island of Leros, it has emerged.

At a November’s Didim Council meeting last week, Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay said that it was highly likely the ferry would begin in May 2015 and would dock at Didim Marina on Saturdays to coincide with Saturday Market.

He added that if the ferry proved popular then a future one could be planned for Wednesdays as well.

He said that the development of cultural and trade relations were still ongoing with Leros officials and more announcements would be made during the winter.

Mr Atabay added: “We are looking to schedule the ferry on Saturdays and from Didim Marina. If there is greater demand then we will consider looking at adding a service on Wednesdays.

“If the feedback is positive, then we will look at establishing a visa office at Didim Marina as well.”
