Update

DIDIM Mayor Denzi Atabay, at his weekly press conference, confirmed he had been forced to cancel a planned trip to Leros due to  heavy rainfall affecting our resort.

Mr Atabay said he was helping to co-ordinate effective responses to residents and businesses adversely affected by two days of rain late last week.

He said he hoped the visit to Leros – with high hopes of a ferry between the Greek island and Didim from next May – could be re-arranged shortly.

New cemetery

Mr Atabay confirmed that work was due to begin on a 4.5 acre cemetery for the town as the present one is close to capacity. He hopes the work will be complete by the end of the year.

Olive festival

The Mayor thanked all those that attended the recent Olive Festival and hoped to see a fourth one next year in the town.
