FIVE British residents have been fined 185TL each for illegally playing cards for money in an Altinkum bar, it has emerged.

Voices sources said police officials discovered the group playing in the bar at about 4pm yesterday (Wednesday Dec 3).

The residents were taken to a local police station and handed the fines. If they pay within 15 days, the fine will be reduced to 150TL.

Voices understands a decision on the bar’s punishment has not been formally made by the local authorities. The bar owner declined to comment to Voices.

This is the second time that Brits have been fined for playing card games. Seven expats were fined for playing at a bar on Monday August 11. Then, the bar was shut for trading for 20 days.

Voices would like to point out that the two incidents occurred at separate bars.
