New road works hit snag in Didim

Update

DIDIM Council’s roadworks plan around the Garden of Sun Hotel have caused untold problems already  to residents living there full-time.

The council began digging out the streets with a broad plan to eventually lay block paving and improve the area.

However, during the works on Karadeniz Cadessi, a Didim Council worker ripped out electric cables, a main water feeder pipe, sewer pipe feed and Internet/telephone cabling at 3pm on Monday (Jan 12).

After many calls, the council came out and repaired the water pipe at 8.30pm that same night.

Aydem came out and three engineers all stood there looking at the wrecked cable and said its not their job, it’s the council’s.

So after 18 hours without power, on Tuesday morning at 11.15am, the electric cabling to a number of houses and a complex was ‘fixed’ by the council.

Yet the sewer to one villa, which is lived in permanently, remains running free – that is sewerage is running into the street as the pipe that linked the feed from the house to the street’s main sewer was ripped off. Didim Council are aware of it, but workers that are working in the area simply say: “No problem”.

The same villa also remains without internet and telephone connections despite many calls in the last two days to TTNet and TurkTelecom to get the cabling fixed.
