Tourism promotion of Didim

Didim is being promoted alongside other Turkish resorts at the 19th East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT) between January 22-25.

The fair, held in Istanbul, was aimed to drawing in both holidaymakers and tourist agencies.

The promotion of Didim was supported by the Didim Tourism Infrastructure Service Association (DİTAB), and saw many officials turnout, including Didim Governor Iskender Yonden and Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay.

Zabita weigh up market cheats

ARMED with scales – more for justice than anything else – Zabita teams have been visiting Didim’s Saturday Market to ensure that traders are providing fair weights of fruit and veg to customers.

The surprise audits were carried out over the last couple of weekends and demonstrated Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay’s determination that everything should be done in conjunction with local and national the laws.

A Zabita official said audits of traders suspected of under weighing produce and overcharging consumers would continue in the coming weeks.

Didim Animal shelter back under council’s wing

DIDIM Animal Shelter has been taken back under the wing of Didim Council after it was initially taken over by Aydin Municipality.

Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay said theDidim animal shelter housed 250 dogs and their care and vaccines would now come under the finance and management of the local council.

Mr Atabay said that a land search for new facilities for the shelter would now continue.

Driving course exam fee goes up

As of January, those looking to get behind the wheel for real in Turkey will face a hike in driving exam fees.

The government has announced that the driving exam fee will go up from 50TL to 60TL.
