FINES totalling 20,600TL have been handed down to motorcyclists for flouting the laws in a crackdown by Didim traffic police.

Didim District Police Department Traffic Bureau teams launched a campaign against errant motorcyclists following a series of recent motorcycle-related accidents in the town.

They held different checkpoints across Didim, targeting offenders riding without helmets, with no relevant licenses, as well as dangerous driving and other traffic-related issues.

Officers handed out fines of 20,632TL to a total of 10 motorcyclists, with one bike found to be stolen and nine bikes banned from being ridden as they were unroadworthy.
