Students join for beach clean up

STUDENTS from Didim, Italy and Albania have embarked on  a major clean-up project in the town as part of a European Union-related initiative.

The young people are all participating as part of the Erasmus+ project and, as part of their activities, are due to carry out a clean-up of Altinkum Beach on February 21.

Today (Feb 19), they were due to a clean-up of 3rd Beach from 2.30pm onwards.

They were also carrying clean-ups at Bafa Lake and Orman Kampi, near Mavisehir, as part of the ecological workshops.

They are also engaged in a photography and collecting rubbish, and will put on an exhibition at the Didim Belediye tea garden.

Under the project, called “Youth for Nature – Green Society in Action” 27 participants from Didim, Poggiardo and Durres, were set to clean the beach, carry out ecological workshops, do photography and recycle materials.

During the exchange, the participants will be encouraged to take part in different non-formal activities and through them to get to know more about different ecological issues as well as about different attitudes of European countries to the main ecological problems.

At the end of the project, the participants will have an opportunity to connect ecology, creativity and photography and share their new knowledge through ecological exhibition with local communities.

The group consists of architects, youth workers and environmental engineers, who continue to university education and all are young people are keen on environmental conservation.

The members of the group decided to develop the project idea “Youth For Nature – Green Society in Action” after participating in an info day about Erasmus+.
