THIRTY-EIGHT residents from the Yesiltepe, Bolova and Seyrentepe areas attended a dinner date at the Didim Marina Yacht Club on Saturday February 28.

It was an opportunity to “Glam Up” for the ladies and several of the gents made a great effort as well.

“It was a golden opportunity to welcome new residents to our small community,” said Mrs Karen Thorne, a resident of 4 years in Yesiltepe.

She added: “The ladies love to have the opportunity to dress up and do something different and that’s exactly what they did.”

The food provided by the Yacht Club was beautifully presented and perfect. The Yacht Club very kindly offered a free 5 star room including breakfast for the best dressed couple on the dinner night.

The winning couple, Simon and Ros, were not in a position to accept the prize so they in turn kindly donated it to the runners up Ross and Terry.

Mr Eamonn Byrne BEM RE welcomed everyone to the function and requested that all of the men toast the ladies to begin the night.

Following the dinner Mr Byrne gave a short speech on the beauty of the event, the company and said how lucky that they were to be able to attend and to be healthy enough to share an evening with nearest and dearest friends.

Mr Byrne went on to read out the names of those from the Yesiltepe area that have passed during the last few years. Gone but not forgotten, a toast was made to absent friends.

The next event to take place for the Yesiltepe residents will be a Dinner Dance at a venue to be decided in September. This event will be open to other guests including family visitors on site at that time.

It will have live music and a dance competition.

When asked about the future event, Mr Byrne said: “It is not possible to cater for hundreds of people giving the few resources available. But I am searching for a suitable venue that will allow residents to invite another couple from any area to this event plus family members visiting at that time.”
