Didim Mayor makes a number of pledges

DIDIM Mayor Deniz Atabay has outlined a series of improvements and initiatives at Friday’s press conference. They include:

– The council will public a 10-page (Turkish) newspaper on a monthly basis for the public outlining its services and news.

– Road re-surfacing: From around May 10, 180,000sqm of roads in Efeler Mah will be tarmacked; road resurfacing will be done in Akbuk and from May 15 Adnan Menders Boulevard (Marina Road) will also be re-tarmacked.

– Work on road repairs of Yalı Avenue (Altinkum’s prom) should be complete within 2-3 days..

– Aydin Municipality teams are starting to plant flowers. End of the season the flower beds will be removed from Yali Avenue and the area will be reorganized. He said: “In the summer of 2016, we will see a completely different Altinkum.”

– Mr Atabay reiterated that businesses will need to work in accordance with their license. He said: “A restaurant is a restaurant, a bar is a bar. For example; bar food service there will not be any.

“From the smallest to the largest, unlicensed businesses will not be allowed to legally trade. Without compromising on this issue, we stand at an equal distance to all.”

– A crackdown on illegal and seasonal tradesmen trading on pavements.

– The construction of attics in construction techniques will be on the agenda at the May council meeting.

– The council is looking to strengthen its structure control unit. It looks as if the authority will not allow work on upper floors until approval has been given.
