A NEW marina is set to be opened over the Aegean Sea from Didim in Gulluk, off the Bodrum Peninsula.

The 58,000 sqm marina, with cafes and restaurants, will have a capacity for 350 vessels. It is being built at a cost of 60 million TL.

It is expected to draw in yachters and sailing folk heading towards the likes of Didim, Güvercinlik, Torba, Gündoğan, Türkbükü, as well as Leros, Kalimnos and Farmakoni.

Construction was initiated in August 2014 and is expected to be ready for opening by this October.

Berthing points will range for boats from 15 to 70 meters, while the marina will host yacht brokerage businesses, restaurants and cafes.

The Egesu Marina company’s chairman Kenan Şengül said: “The marina will really open up the potential of Gulluk to the outside world in the marine and sailing sector. It will breathe new life into the area as it is a short distance from Bodrum Airport.

“We aim to make it a luxury marina with water, electricity, communication, a yacht club, fitness and health center, commercial areas, restaurants, cafes being accommodated.”
