Update

THE traditional construction ban has begun in Didim as of May 15.

As of last year, the construction ban will be implemented differently over three zones, the first being the in the Altinkum and hotels area, and then zones 2 and 3 going further back out of town.

The ban, if adhered, should run to October 15.

In zones 2 and 3, the construction ban is applied between 09:00 to 18:00.

The ban on construction is regulated via a circular/communiqué, which is published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism every year.

The ministry sends this circular to provincial directorates, and provincial directorates publish this on their websites.

The local authorities are not only in charge of publishing this regulation on their websites and bulletin boards but also in charge of ensuring that people comply with this regulation.

According to the circular, construction is banned to prevent visual and noise pollution between the dates of May 15 and October 15, 2013.

Between these dates, construction is banned in residential areas. In the local authority system, Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorates are affiliated to the governorates. Therefore, complaints on this issue can be made to the governorates or to the district governorates (kaymakamlık) in districts (ilçe).
