Update

HASSLERS causing bother to tourists have caused the temporary closure of three bars and a travel agent in Altinkum.

The hasslers – otherwise known as hanutçuluk in Turkish – were caught on the police’s 23 CCTVs monitoring Tale Cadessi.

Didim Governor Iskender Yonden has endorsed a hard line policy on the hasslers.

As a result, police intervened and took action against the four offending business, by closing them down for one day’s trading.

Repeated offending by businesses will see them closed for 15-days

The campaign is being endorsed by the police, Didim Council, the gendarmerie and civil society organizations.

Mr Yonden said: “We warned at the start of the season that we would not tolerate hassle of tourists and yet we have evidence that it is still happening. So we have reacted.”
