Update

A POPULAR AKBUK resident and avid Galatasaray fan has celebrated her birthday on her favourite daytripper boat – Siesta.

Clare Stirling marked her 48th birthday with a bash aboard Siesta Boat, as she has done every year for the past five years.

Clare decorated the boat with Galatasaray flags and a memorial banner for Sezgin Oz Cimbomlu who died two years ago on June 28. Clare supports the team and goes to all their matches wherever they play.

Clare and husband Mark have lived in the area for nine years and are great dog lovers. As well as their own two dogs Lulu and Peanuts, (the boat’s mascots), they also rehome dogs and at present have 10 dogs looking for good homes.

Siesta boat was full with friends and Galatasaray supporters, including Ferit Sayer and his wife, who came from Istanbul for the celebration. Two cakes were presented to Clare onboard, with one in Galatasaray colours.

The day included pulling alongside Anil Boat, which was also decorated with flags of the Galatasaray team, and played the teams song.

Norwegian Day

The Siesta was also block booked this week by residents, all Norwegians of the Prime Blue complex. The boat was full to capacity, including children and two dogs. There are plans for a repeat of the day next month.
