A dip of joy at Didyma House

FOR those looking to escape the rigors of a hard day toiling in the sun – or the hustle and bustle of the Didim holiday season – you can turn to a quiet hotel for a few hours’ peace and relaxation.

The Didiyma House Hotel, which is located directly opposite Altinkum Police Station just above Hunter’s Valley, is an unlikely delightful haven for guests to unwind and just watch the world go by.

Being located so close to Altinkum’s Main Beach and the back road to the seafront, you’d expect more noise. But it’s surprisingly quiet and it’s great to sit on the terrace and get lost in a book.

Equally, guests who want to use the facilities for the day can take advantage of the hotel’s pool which is to the side of the building. Otherwise just admire the small garden and drink in the views.

The hotel is run by Hüseyin Unutmaz and his wife Nazan, a retired English teacher who gave Voices a tour of the facilities available to either causal users or hotel guests.

While the pool is free to use from 9am to 7pm, guests can buy their drinks and food from the well-stocked bar and restaurant. Lunch is buffet-style , while dinner for those looking to make it a full day can also take advantage of Turkish menu options.

The hotel has 35 rooms and is comfortable and clean throughout the building.

Its restaurant and facilities are also available for hire for special occasions, such as anniversaries, birthdays and weddings.

Nazan said: “We offer a full board option for hotel guests, but we are also open to guests, such as the expat community, foreign holidaymakers and their families on a daily basis for the use of the pool.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at Didyma House Hotel where the welcome is friendly and the service attentive. Why not escape the Altinkum noise for the peace and tranquillity of our hotel?”
