Brits robbed – 3 detained

TWO British tourists had their handbags lifted close to Main Beach, but CCTV helped police snare three suspects.

The distraction-style incident occurred last weekend on the seafront.

The police used CCTV to track and spot the suspects, and later arrested three, aged 24 and 16 years.

It appears the tourists placed their handbags on a wall and in a moment’s distraction, a suspect vanished with the bags.

But after alerting police, they turned to the CCTV monitoring the seafront and arrested suspects, SA (24), CS and DY (16). They were later sent to court, arrested and later bailed pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile, two suspects were taken into custody for attempting to burn cabling in a parking lot.

Suspects A.Ö and A. D. were detained and later released.

Didim protests Suruç massacre

SCORES of protestors hit the streets of Didim this week to protest the suicide bomb attack in Suruç, which claimed 32 lives.

Around 600 people, including members of various political parties and local residents, joined together for the march.

They shouted in protest as they walked to the Town’s Square at the deaths of the mainly young people who had gathered in Suruc with the aim of going to rebuild the town of Kobane, on the Syrian-Turkey border.

Police attended and accompanied the march. Atatürk Boulevard was closed to traffic for a short time.

Citizens surrounding the group offered their support with applause from time to time.

After the march ended, one minute’s silence was held in the square. After speeches were made, the crowd dispersed without incident. It is understood that police reinforcements were drafted in from Aydin, Soke and Kusdasi for the safety of the protest.
