THREE children have died in separate pool accidents in Turkey.

A ten-year-old Russian child holidaing in Belek, Antalya, drowned at the pool of his 5-star resort on Wednesday.

Sergei Odajiu entered the pool of his five-star resort at 12 noon. However people at poolside eventually noticed he was remaining motionless for an extended period of time. They and hotel staff soon entered the water to pull him out.

Following preliminary care by the hotel’s doctor, Sergei was rushed to a private hospital but doctors were unable to save the boy.

Meanwhile a ten-year-old boy, Tanzel Tuna Şendil, from Istanbul, drowned in a slide mishap at water park in Bodrum’s Ortakent-Yahşi neighborhood around noon on Tuesday

It is suspected he banged his head on the pool while exiting a water slide and fell unconscious in the water, causing his death.

Tanzel, whose mother Hülya Şendil claims is an advanced swimmer, played with his mother for a couple hours before going off to enjoy one of the park’s water slides by himself. He never returned.

Worried something might have happened to her son, Hülya went to the side of the pool and found him motionless in the water. Leaping into the water she removed her child with the help of people nearby. Tanzel was given first aid and CPR at the park.

In critical condition, Tanzel was rushed to the Private Acıbadem Hospital in an ambulance, however doctors were unable save him.. It is suspected he may have banged his head as he was exiting the slide and passed out.

A tearful Hülya Şendil told the police her son was an excellent swimmer and she had no idea what had happened, “I don’t know what could have happened. I don’t know how he could have drowned. He might had hit his head and fallen unconscious.” Receiving news of the death, father Aziz Şendil has left Istanbul and is heading to Bodrum to join his family.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and four water park employees are being questioned.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old girl lost her life after her hair became tangled in the blower motor at the bottom of a pool at a luxurious resort in Sarıgerme village.

In July, Sofia El Khoury, the daughter of Israeli businessman Victor Enrique El Khoury Sejnaui and Colombian sports announcer Jacqueline Cepeda Perez, visited the hotel as part of a family holiday.

The young girl slid down a water slide into the resort’s pool, but her hair became caught in a blower motor at the bottom of the pool and she was unable to surface. Upon realizing his daughter was stuck, Sejnaui jumped into the pool with a pair scissors to release Sofia’s hair from the motor and was able to bring her up to the pool deck.

After being submerged without oxygen for a long time, Sofia was taken to a local hospital where she stayed in an intensive care unit.

As her condition worsened, her father called an Israeli doctor to come to Turkey for Sofia’s treatment. However, the Israeli doctor advised to continue Sofia’s treatment in Israel and she was taken to Israel in a private air ambulance. Despite all the efforts, Sofia lost her life in Israel.
