Update

THE Siesta Boat became a floating wedding venue as a local couple decided to tie the knot on the Aegean.

Sandra Chapman (51) and Mark Aldous (56) married last Tuesday.

The couple, who have lived together in Yesiltepe for the past seven 7 years, originally come from Worthing, in Sussex. They met at a nightclub called Flappers in 1995, and have been together since then.

The colour scheme for the wedding was blue, lilac and white and the boat was meticulously decorated with bunting in these colours. Each triangle had to be sewn by hand, and the local Craft Club in Yesiltepe have been working hard to complete the bunting for the event.

There were 50 guests on board, including family and friends who had travelled from the UK, and had made the effort to dress in the chosen colour scheme, in swimsuits, bikinis and sarongs.

The bride wore a traditional wedding dress for the event, and had two young members of her family as bridesmaids, looking beautiful in blue dresses. After lots of photos, they all changed into swimwear for their day at sea.

The Registrar came aboard along with Sami Isik, translator, at 11am. Witnesses were Bayram Kilic and Gregory Langridge (bride’s brother).

After the departure of the Registrar, the boat set sail for a day at sea and even volleyball at the last bay. Everyone enjoyed the day, which went without a hitch.

Siesta boat crew would like to wish health and happiness to the couple, and thank them for choosing to have their special day aboard with us.
