CHATTY Chicks – Didim’s expat women’s group – has raised 3,000 TL to provide an electric wheelchair for a local man.

The group donated the money raised within the group for Cevet Taniş who was unable to travel from Balat Village on the day of the official handover.

The official presentation at the Regency Lounge, where Chatty Chicks meets every Wednesday, was attended by Lynn Cole who liaises with the local disabled community association via the Help-in-Hands group.

Mr Taniş, said Lynn, was ‘very, very pleased” and had asked to pass on a ‘big thank you’ to all those involved in the fundraising effort for the new wheelchair.

She added that Mr Taniş, who lives with his brother in Balat, is unable to walk and had use of an ordinary wheelchair, but was unable to use it extensively due to an incline outside the house.

“With the new electric wheelchair, he will have no problem going out by himself. This will make a vast difference to his life,” said Lynn.
