Medics hit out at hospital attack

MEDICS at Didim State Hospital have condemned an incident in which an emergency room doctor was verbally and physically assaulted.

They briefly walked out and gave a statement to the press in light of the incident which occurred on August 13. It is understood the emergency room duty doctor was attacked verbally and physically by relatives of a patient. 

The medics’ union condemned the incident in their joint press release. Last year the Ministry of Health sais there was over 10,000 cases of violence reported against medics and doctors in the line of their duty.

The press release added: “We at Didim State Hospital as a staff do not accept violence in the health care environment and we will never allow these events to be ordinary and usual.”

Fire of Anatolia dance at Miletus?

THE possibility of the Fire of Anatolia dance company performing for the first time at Miletus seems to have been tentatively raised.

TÜRSAB (Tourism) chairman Basaran Ulusoy apparently held a meeting two months ago with local members over the prospect of the Fire of Anatolia Dance group – well-known throughout Turkey – performing at the amphitheatre at Miletus.

Stage arrangements and technical information was assessed and reviewed, but a decision was taken to shelve the matter for the time being. Concerns were raised about the physical space, services offered, toilets in the grounds and other aspects.

Fishermen fined

OWNERS of three trawlers at Didim’s Tekağaç area have been fined for fishing trawling in territorial waters.

The Aegean Coast Guard Aegean also banned the three boats and fishermen who fish with trawl applied equipment.

The trawl nets were confiscated by the instruction of the Public Prosecutor about.

‘Fun fair’ wrecked in fire

ABOUT 80,000TL worth of damage was done to Akbuk’s ‘fun fair’ after a suspect fire last weekend.

Arson has not been ruled out after the fire broke out at the mini-theme park.

Fire crews were called and they quickly extinguished the blaze.

The Gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the incident. 

Didim rides high in internet search

YANDEX, an internet search tool, has revealed the 10 most researched resorts in Turkey.

Didim was revealed to be the further most searched name on the list, while Bodrum and Antalya took first and second.
