THOUSANDS of Turkish Lira has been raised by a double-header hosted by Help-in-Hands, the local charitable group.
More than 5,000TL was raised at the Didim Help-in-Hands big Summer Bash on Thursday August 27 at Meandros Village Restaurant, on Adnan Menderes Bulvari, with 181 people in attendance.
The night included good food, live music, raffle prizes and all compered by ex-world boxing champion John H. Stracey. It was followed by Mike McNally 60s and 70s music and a performance by The Bees.
Lynn Cole, H-i-H organizer, said: “It was a fabulous night and we would like to thank everyone who supported the event and helped raise such a fantastic amount.
“With more than 5,000TL raised, that was the biggest collection ever compared to the previous year’s summer bashes.” The money will all be donated to the group’s dedicated causes.
This was then followed last Sunday (Sept 6) wiht 20 people taking part in the annual swim, this time going from Palm Wings Hotel to the Didim council tea room at the harbour.
