A CHARITY headed up a much-loved Didim resident has helped to collect and distribute clothes and uniforms for scores of people.

The Didim branch of the Turkey Association charity collected, within a three month period, thousands of items of clothing which were packaged and sent to specially set up camps for Syrian refugees.

Also the charity donated dozens of school uniforms for the most needy families in Didim recently.

The branch’s chairman is Deniz Baylan, whose family run the ever-popular Blue Restaurant at Yesilkent.

The charity has been instrumental in raising thousands of Turkish Lira to fund a number of local causes and special appeals, including specific projects to help improve patient care at Didim State Hospital.
