Akbuk: Plans for the resort

AKBUK is to get a new park and blockpaving across the resort, Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay has said.

He said that ‘significant investments’ would be coming to the resort ‘in a short time’.

He has called on the council’s municpal teams to gear up for a number of projects in and around Akbuk, which he described as “one of Turkey’s most important tourism centres”.

He said that one of the first projects to be delivered will 7,000 sqm of blockpaving  around the central market area, as well as kerb and road side lighting improvements.

This will be followed up with 15,000 sqm of asphalting across the resort. “The work we do is important and we will work to improve the facilities in Akbuk. Our goal is to satisfy our citizens.”

New park 
Didim Municipality has also drawn up plans for a new 4,000 sqm park in a specified area, with a playground, cafeteria, walking paths, as well as a picnic area close to the beach.

He said: “A new park is critical for Akbuk. We will accelerate this work in coming days. It will be a modern park and an important proposal for Akbuk.”

Former garage

Separately, the town’s only petrol station is being demolished, with rumours that its could be a small shopping centre with parking.
