FRIENDS have rallied to the support of a hard-working British mum-of-four who faces deportation on June 6 after falling foul of the work permit law.

Jill Robinson, who has been responsible for Altinkum Premier Cleaning and Maintenance, was issued with a 30-day deportation notice, fined 765TL, and the business fined 7,500TL.

She was hauled in by Aydin immigration and advised that due to a law change in 2014, foreign business owners should have a work permit. As she didn’t have one, wasn’t aware of the law change and for failing to obtain one, she now faces being kicked out the country she has called home for several years.

Jill told Voices that she would be leaving her partner Servet in Turkey and taking their four children with her. They are Sami 11 years, Dylan 8 years, two-year-old Ella and 11-month-old Deniz.

She said: “Once back in UK, I must apply to the Turkish Embassy to have a special visa issued to allow me to return.”

In the light of Jill’s experience a GoFundMe Page has been launched by her friends to raise funds for the family. The page is – https://www.gofundme.com/25hqe7en

The page declares: “Super mum of four Jill Robinson, a well-known community treasure in Didim, has been given 30 days’ notice to leave the country.

“Her close friends from the community have set up this funding page with the goal of helping Jill with shock financial costs that will have a huge impact on the security of her family.

“Jill owns a small family cleaning and maintenance business since 2012 that relies on the tourism economy within the town which has already decreased by 50 percent on last year.

“Jill has so many worries to deal with especially as her youngest child is 9 months old and she cannot be away from him or any of her children for an unknown length of time.

“This has caused uproar in the local community as Jill is such a pro-active charity worker, parental governor of the local primary school and organizer of all expat community events including Easter and Christmas parties.

“Jill is also the go-to person for helping with paperwork for new expats and she is always willing to drop everything and help anyone with any worry, big or small without any pay back expected.”

The page, which has been shared 935 times, has raised £835 from 33 donations within the last six days.

Jill, who has last 4 kilogramms in weight since the deportation notice, said: “I have been touched by the response from friends across Didim and been overwhelmed by all the messages of support.

The business has now been transferred into Servet’s name. Jill said: “As far as the business goes, it remains open as usual and has not been affected by my circumstances.”
