Didim-Farmakonisi refugees rescued

A BOAT carrying 14 Syrian refugees, mostly women and children, which had set off from the Didim Coastline got into trouble heading towards the Greek island of Farmakonisi, forcing them  to be rescued.

Local media in Greece suggested the six-foot wooden boat had been stolen, but the passengers soon got into trouble as the boat took on water about an hour into their journey.

The Greek Coastguard picked up the refugees, who all wore life jackewts. They were taken to Leros for medical checks.
