GOOD Party Aydin Deputy Aydin Adnan Sezgin has raised with Turkey’s Parliament the need to fix the tourism shortfalls being experienced across the province.

Sezgin raised a number of issues from the need for high speed rail connections and better investments in road and airport infrastructures.

He said: “The Aydın tourism sector, which is my home and election region, has been suffering from the problems experienced in recent times.

“Seventeen years of (AKP) power and unfortunately neglected Aydin, deprived of investments as well as the most favorable areas of tourism subject to construction.

“Motorway, airport and high-speed train investments have been delayed for years and the people of Aydın are lingering with a few sweet promises from election to election.”

He said necessary transportation arrangements and promotional activities in the resorts which have exceptional features, such as Kuşadası and Didim, have not been realized properly for years.

He added the Kuşadası Efes Congress Center is unable to operate due to the administrative problems of its partners, while the General Directorate of Highways has not completed the Kuşadası ring road for 4 years.

“The problems experienced in cruise tourism have not been overcome and firms have taken our country out of their programs due to their risk perceptions towards our country,” he added.

In addition, second residential estates, which are established in the most beautiful places of our coasts, with summer houses idle most of the year, cannot be exploited by an important economic potential, he added.

He called for the need for action to meet these issues.
