A PERMANENT memorial wall of loved ones from the Yesiltepe district of Didim who have since passed on has been dedicated by the community.

On the evening of July 1, residents gathered together at the local venue in Yesiltepe to celebrate the lives of those that passed on  and to show support for those that are left alone after losing loved ones.

Two residents, Eamonn Byrne and Kevin Elloway, painted and then created a memorial wall where pictures of some of those who have passed on are now on display.

A local resident has also donated a beautiful granite plaque as a centrepiece. After the names of those that have passed were read out, music followed for all to enjoy.

Long-time resident Karen Thorne, who attended, said: “This truly is a caring community full of love, kindness and positivity.

“Many attended the venue to show their full support for our bereaved residents. The evening was not about the departed, but they were remembered and a list of names was read out.

“The evening was lovely and songs chosen by the bereaved families were played by Martin Edwards.”
