A new charity in Didim is seeking community-support in its efforts to help families who have suffered domestic violence and abuse.

The Society For Education Development & Solidarity Association (TEG-DER), with a management committee of Turks and locally living foreign nationals, is a new registered charity in Didim.

“Our aim is to empower women and help build a better future while supporting children with their education needs,” said a TEG-DER spokesperson.

The charity, which deals directly with the Governor’s Office and Dıdim Council, solely relies on donations and has turned to the wider Didim and Akbuk communities for help.

TEG-DER is also trying to provide sponsorship for some children and has bought tablets to help them pursue their education online.

Since launching, they have been able to provide families with food shopping, soba for one family, over 20 pairs of winter shoes/boots, clothes, blankets, jacket, and toys.

The charity’s long-term aim is to open premises to house free workshops for various activities, such as cooking, sewing and handicrafts.

If you would like to volunteer your services to the charity, contact Carol on 0553 309 1702 on Whatsapp or alternatively view their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/386364709113557
