CAT and dog houses, which are prepared by Didim Municipality using scrap materials, are now being placed across the area.

Overseen by Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay, the cost-saving project sees scrapped materials from past events, such as exhibitions, being brought back to life at the Didim Municipality Sculpture Workshop.

The dog kennels have been prepared in the form of the world-famous Temple of Apollo and the cat houses in the form of a steamboat called the ‘Cat Ferry’ also added value to the city’s aesthetics.

Didim Mayor Ahmet Deniz Atabay, who has made a name for himself with many decisions he made for street animals in the past, stated that his work will continue.

He said, “With the decisions we took in the past in our animal-friendly city of Didim, we prohibited the sale of animals and the use of fireworks in pet shops.

“We are happy to realize this another project today. We have had many scrapped materials from events we organized in the past. With the opportunities we provide within our municipality, we recycled these materials and brought them back to life for our stray animals and produced huts.”
