To mark November 11 National Afforestation Day and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, scores of people, including members of Plogging in Didim, were involved in a mass planting of saplings.

The campaign, termed “Breath for the Future, Breath for the Republic” saw sapling planting on an area of land in Altınkum District.

District Governor Can Kazım Kuruca, Garrison Commander Colonel Ali Saçan, Mayor Ahmet Deniz Atabay, District Gendarmerie Commander Mustafa Gani Solak, District Police Chief Yunus Dinç, public institution chiefs, some political party representatives and NGO representatives attended the planting. A total of 420 saplings were planted.

Making a statement about the sapling planting campaign, Didim District Governor Kuruca said that 5 million saplings were planted in many parts of Turkey on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Didim Mukhtars also gave a speech on behalf of the former headman of Hisar District, Bahri Aşık, who passed away recently.
