A total of 198,807 tourists came to Turkey from China in the January-October period this year. This has been back up by a 15% increase in early reservations for the 2024 season.

Mehmet İşler, Vice President of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED), said Turkey has the potential to host 10 million tourists from China. “Turkey even has the chance to get 20% of the current number of tourists from the Chinese market alone.”

Stating that Turkey acts aggressively in promotion and that early booking campaigns have strengthened the hand of tourism professionals, İşler said that according to the latest figures, tourist interest from the German and British markets has increased. Markets in the Netherlands, France and Poland are also increasingly active.

Pointing out that the Chinese are interested in culture and gastronomy, İşler pointed out that they especially like to visit Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Bergama, Sardis and Antalya.
