According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) 2025 International Migration Statistics, Aydın’s migration dynamics reveal a striking picture.
While the number of people arriving from abroad increased across Turkey, Aydın was among the provinces receiving migrants. However, the fact that the number of people arriving and departing is quite close indicates that the migration balance in the city is at a delicate point.
Aydın, which has a reported population of 1,172,107, saw a total of 4,289 migrants settle from abroad in 2025.
As of June 18, there were 10,640 foreign residents in Aydin province, with most settling in Kusadasi and Didim.
On a national scale, according to official data, Turkiye hosted nearly 394,000 people in 2025 from abroad as the country remained a key destination for regional mobility, education, employment and family reunification. This was an increase of 25.2% compared with the previous year.
Among foreign nationals settling in Türkiye, citizens of Turkmenistan formed the largest group by a considerable margin, accounting for nearly one-quarter of all foreign arrivals. They were followed by migrants from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Egypt and Afghanistan.
While immigration rose, emigration from Türkiye eased. The number of people leaving the country fell by 5 percent from the previous year to 403,216.
Foreign nationals made up the majority of those departing, though more than 155,000 Turkish citizens also moved abroad. Istanbul remains the focal point of Türkiye’s migration, with more than four in every ten immigrants arriving from abroad settling in the country’s largest city, far ahead of Antalya, Ankara, Izmir and Bursa.
Among foreign nationals leaving Türkiye, Iraqi citizens represented the largest group, followed by Afghans, Russians, Iranians and Turkmen citizens.
