Advertorial
You’ve arrived in Altınkum. The sun is shining, the sea is warm and the beach is waiting. But after a few days of doing absolutely nothing, you might fancy seeing a little more of what this beautiful part of Turkey has to offer.
That’s where go2altinkum comes in. The local excursion company has been helping holidaymakers discover the Aegean coast and beyond since 2007, offering everything from action-packed safari adventures and scuba diving to boat trips, waterparks, historic sites and excursions to Greece. So, what kind of day are you looking for?
FOR ADVENTURERS
Jeep Safari
If sitting beside the pool all day isn’t quite your idea of excitement, climb aboard a Jeep Safari and head into the countryside surrounding Didim. Leave the main roads behind and discover rural Turkey, travelling along dusty tracks and through the hills while enjoying views and scenery that you simply don’t get from the beach. It’s a fun way to spend a day with family or friends. Expect the possibility of getting a little wet and dusty along the way!
Buggy & Quad Safari
For an even more hands-on adventure, there’s Buggy and Quad Safari. Swap your sun lounger for an off-road vehicle and head out into the countryside. With dirt tracks, uneven terrain and plenty of open space, it’s a chance to experience the landscape from a completely different perspective. It’s particularly appealing if you’re looking for something energetic that gets you away from the traditional tourist trail.
FAMILY FUN
Adaland Waterpark
If the children have had enough of sightseeing or the adults want to behave like children for the day then Adaland Waterpark in Kuşadası is an obvious choice. With a huge selection of slides, pools and water attractions, there is plenty to keep different ages entertained, from adrenaline-inducing rides to calmer areas for relaxing and enjoying the water. And because the excursion includes transport from Didim, you can leave the driving and navigation to someone else.
ON THE WATER
Daily Boat Trips
One of the best ways to enjoy the Aegean is to get out onto it. A daily boat trip offers the perfect combination of sunshine, swimming and scenery. Cruise along the coastline, stop at beautiful bays and enjoy the opportunity to jump into the clear blue water. It’s the sort of day where the biggest decision you may have to make is whether to swim before or after lunch. For families, couples or groups of friends, a boat trip is one of those classic Turkish holiday experiences that never seems to get old.
BENEATH THE SURFACE
Scuba Diving
The Aegean isn’t just beautiful above the water. For those who want to discover what lies beneath it, scuba diving offers a completely different way to experience the coast. Whether you’re trying diving for the first time or already have experience underwater, a diving excursion can introduce you to the clear waters and fascinating marine environment around the Didim coastline. For beginners, qualified instructors provide guidance so that you can experience the underwater world safely and confidently. Seeing the Aegean beneath the surface could give you a whole new appreciation for it.
HISTORY, CULTURE & BEAUTIFUL PLACES
The region around Didim is packed with places worth exploring. Visitors shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Ephesus, one of the country’s most spectacular ancient sites. Walk along its remarkably preserved ancient streets, see the impressive Library of Celsus and imagine what life was like in one of the great cities of the ancient world.
For something altogether more peaceful, head into the hills to Şirince, a charming village famous for its traditional houses, narrow streets and beautiful surroundings. It makes a lovely contrast to the busy coastal resorts and is a great place to wander, explore and enjoy the scenery.
And you don’t even need to leave Didim to experience something extraordinary. The Temple of Apollo at Didyma is one of the area’s most important ancient monuments and a reminder that people have been visiting this part of the Aegean for thousands of years.
A Day in Akyaka
If you’re looking for beautiful scenery and a change of pace, Akyaka makes a wonderful day out. The excursion includes a boat trip along the crystal-clear Azmak River, where the exceptionally clear water allows you to see beneath the surface. Afterwards there is time for lunch and to enjoy the beach and the town itself. It is a very different experience from a day in Altınkum, and that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile.
Dalyan, Kaunos & İztuzu Beach
Another memorable excursion takes you to Dalyan, where the journey itself becomes part of the experience. Travel by boat through the beautiful reed-lined waterways, passing the spectacular ancient Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs. Depending on the excursion, there is the opportunity to explore the ancient city of Kaunos, experience the area’s famous mud baths and thermal springs, and visit İztuzu Beach. The beach is particularly famous for its importance as a nesting site for the endangered loggerhead, or Caretta Caretta, turtles.
Pop to Greece
When you’re sitting in Altınkum looking out across the Aegean, Greece doesn’t seem quite so far away. Go2altinkum can arrange day trips to the Greek islands, giving holidaymakers the opportunity to spend a day experiencing another country, another culture and another side of the Aegean before returning to Didim.
AND THERE’S MORE…
Go2altinkum also offers excursions and trips to destinations. Whether your perfect holiday involves ancient ruins, turquoise water, adrenaline, wildlife, good food, beautiful scenery or simply discovering somewhere you’ve never been before, there is likely to be an excursion to suit you.
