Update

This week we are exploring Urla. I will be sharing the places to see, the flavours to be tasted and the ideas that will help you in your trip to Urla, a district and holiday resort of Izmir.
1. Wine Tasting on the Vineyard Road

We can say that Bağ Road is the place that has the largest share of Urla’s shine. This is an ancient Greek settlement and has an ancient winemaking culture. However, winemaking did not continue after the exchange. But recently these vineyards have been revived and the winemaking culture has been revived.
You can visit the vineyards and cellars of the wine producers in the region and taste their wines. I leave some of the places you can drop by below:
– Urlice Vineyards
This is a family business. They produce red wine. There are restaurants at İçmeler, 1168. Sokak No:7, 35430 Urla/İzmir, where you can enjoy wine with your pizza.
-Mosaic Winery
This is also a family business. The business has a small horse farm. Although it is not possible to taste wine here, there are quite ambitious brands. Their address is Kuşçular, 8015. Sk. No: 6, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
– USCA Winery
This is a business that makes limited production every year and does not sell its products outside of certain restaurants. They have a wine made with a special grape called Foça Karası. It is said that this grape was only found in their vineyard. A place worth going to taste Sonnet 23 made with this grape. Its address is Kuşçular, 8033. Sk. No:1, 35437 Urla/İzmir.
2. Farm Walk
While you are visiting the Urla Bağ Road, you may want to drive your car to the nearby Uzbaş Farm. This is a farm that grows plants for use in landscaping. It is a pleasant place to visit and it is possible to shop. If you are interested, you may want to stop by. Address: Kuşçular, Kuşcular Cd. No:26, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
3. Water Sports in Gülbahçe
If you are into water sports, you should definitely go to Gülbahçe. If you haven’t tried anything like this before, this is the right place to start. The experience of the facilities, the instructors and the team really help you a lot.
4. ‘Manej Urla’ Experience
Manej Urla is the name of a farm. On this farm, there is a hotel, a restaurant where you can taste farm products and a horse riding service. It is a very pleasant place for families with children. You can relax in the restaurant while your child takes riding lessons. Address: Kuşçular, 8028. Sk. No:22, 35430 Urla/İzmir. Phone: +9 0544 668 41 79.

5. Enjoying Fish in İskele
The coastal part of the centre of Urla is called İskele. The fish restaurants lined up along the beach are chirping in the evenings. There are also a few places where you can have beer and potatoes at sunset, which is an Izmir classic.
If there is a place in İskele that deserves special mention, it is the Yengeç Restaurant. There are so many different appetizers and hot starters that you will be full until the fish arrives. Address: Skele, 2121. Sk. No:6 D:1, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
By the way, I wanted to provide additional information. While sitting in İskele, you will see an island in front of you. This is Quarantine Island, that is, quarantine island. In the 18th century, when there was an epidemic of diseases such as cholera and plague, those who came from abroad first stayed on this island to make sure that the ships from abroad did not bring diseases. This practice continued until the 1950s. There are buildings built by French architects during the Ottoman period on the island, but unfortunately, the island is not open to visitors.

6. Stroll on Art Street
Art Street is the busiest place in the centre of Urla. You can find colourful stalls selling handicrafts produced by locals. There are also many boutiques and beautiful places in the vicinity.
For meticulously prepared meals, I can recommend Hiç Lokanta here. Its address is Yeni, Art Street, Zafer Cd. No:52, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
For a dessert and coffee place, Fırın Vourla is a satisfying place. Its address is İskele, 35430, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
7. Malgaca Market, the Heart of Urla
In general, the tour in the centre starts from Art Sakağı and ends with a visit to Malgaca Market. Since you may have parking problems around Malgaca, I suggest you do the same.
This place has been around for centuries; It is the centre of commerce in Urla with its architectural texture, coffee shops, shops with dried tomatoes and peppers hanging from the windows and smiling tradesmen. I recommend you to shop in the market, taste Katmer and stop by the restaurant called Begendik Abi. The address of Malgaca Bazaar is Camiatik, Itır Sk. No:35430, 35430 Urla/İzmir.
Urla is a place where you need to go by your car to travel comfortably and enjoy it fully. If you don’t have a car, I recommend renting a car. Have a good trip now.
