An Underwater Park Project is set to be built in Bodrum. It will be a first in Turkey and will emphasize the theme of art.

In the project to be carried out in Adaboğazı, one of the paradise corners of the area, giant statues will be viewed by diving to a depth of 5-12 meters. The first phase of the project will be opened in May.

An introductory meeting was held for the Bodrum Underwater Park, whose project was prepared by the Bodrum Maritime Museum and the Blue Aegean Sea Rotary Club.

Information about the project was given at the meeting attended by Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çit, Maritime Museum Director Selen Cambazoğlu, Blue Aegean Sea Rotary Club member and former president Şule Kükrer.

Maritime Museum Director Selen Cambazoğlu said: “We combined the project we prepared to raise awareness about the protection of the seas, bays, sea creatures and areas in Bodrum with the power of sculptures and art.

“We will open the first phase of the Bodrum Underwater Park Project, which will be built in Adaboğazı Locality in the paradise Akvaryum Bay in Bitez District, in May.

“Five giant statues, which will be located at a depth of 5-12 meters in the water, can be viewed from under the water or on the surface with a mask, and we will have taken an important step towards the protection of both diving tourism and our seas.

TÜRSAB Bodrum Executive Board Chairman Mustafa Demir said, “In tourism, you must have a story to tell and different destinations. It is a very important project to diversify tourism. The underwater theme park is a really different alternative for tourists who want to find and choose two or three products together in tourism, I believe it will make a significant contribution to tourism in Bodrum and the country,” he said.

Şule Kükrer, former president of the Blue Aegean Sea Rotary Club, said: “We set out to give an environmental message through art. Just as the shipwrecks in Bodrum and its region carry messages from past to present, this project will carry an important message to future generations in the name of art and the environment.”
